Torrie Avey

Coach, Region 6

Torrie has dedicated her career to helping families and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children in her community. Most recently, Torrie served as a Senior Caseworker with Miami County Children’s Services, where she’s worked for the last 16 years, primarily carrying a caseload of intact families, kinship families, and some foster care cases. Torrie has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Bowling Green State University.

Coordinator, Region 6

Royal Muhammad joins OhioKAN with over five years of experience serving multisystem youth and families as a care coordinator with the Ohio RISE program. She also has experience working with families in the autism community as a registered behavior technician. Royal earned her Bachelor’s degree from Wright State University and her Master’s in Public Administration from Franklin University. She is passionate about helping others and effecting positive change in her community.

Navigator, Bellbrook - Sugarcreek Community Support Canter (Region 6)

Catherine has dedicated her career to supporting children, youth, and families in transition. She has served as a McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison in both Michigan and Maryland. In that position she worked with students experiencing homelessness, some of whom were in kinship care. She is passionate about connecting families to local community resources to help provide stability for children. Catherine has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master’s in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. She has been with OhioKAN as a Region 6 Navigator for over two years and values the opportunity to support Ohio’s kinship and adoptive families.

Navigator, Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley (Region 6)

Before joining OhioKAN, Ivy worked as an administrative assistant and birth parent support person at the Ohio private adoption agency, Adoption Link, Inc. Ivy’s experiences there sparked her interest in the field and led her to pursue a Master of Social Work with a focus on children, youth, and families. Ivy graduated with a MSSA from Case Western Reserve University’s online program in August 2023, as well as recently became a licensed social worker. She has served as a region 6 OhioKAN Navigator for the past two years at Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley!

Lindsey Christian

Navigator, Seeds of Hope OH (Region 6)

For the last four years, Lindsey has worked for the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office as a Victim Witness Advocate. She accompanied victims of crime to court, managed their cases, assisted in filing protection orders, acted as the liaison between the victim and the prosecutor, and worked to ensure victim’s rights were being followed in accordance with Marsy’s Law of Ohio. She has been a registered advocate through the Ohio Advocate Network since 2018 and reached the highest level of credential (Registered Advocate with Senior Standing) in 2022. In addition, she is certified in Trauma-Informed Care and Crisis Response. Starting in 2012, Lindsey began volunteering with Project Women, a non-profit in Springfield, Ohio which provides shelter, advocacy, and case management services to both child & adult survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. In 2013, she was employed by the same organization first as shelter staff and then as a Campus Victim Advocate.

Lindsey has a Bachelor’s in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology and a minor in Women’s Studies from Wittenberg University, and a Masters of Criminal Justice Administration from Urbana/Franklin University. As an OhioKAN Navigator, she is eager to get to know her community better and help kinship & adoption families on their journey!
